The Church of St. Andrew desires to be a church where you and your family come to pray, where you will worship among a warm and welcoming people.
A church where you will grow spiritually; and where you and your family will have access to sound Christian learning, while finding value from our history and tradition.
We desire a church where community needs are met and fulfilled, where those groups needing a gathering place find a warm welcome.
It is our prayer that we are a church that witnesses the love of Jesus Christ.
At the 10:30 service we will all gather in the courtyard to pass out palm branches. We will wave them high as we process into the church, singing and praising as we go! This service focuses on Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem and children (young and old) have a grand time as we enter the church and remember Christ as He came into Jerusalem on a donkey.
On this evening our Licenced Lay Ministers lead us in Evening Prayer. This service will envelop and uphold us as we share the Passion Gospel. The powerful prayers in this service will give us the strength to walk to the cross.
On this evening in Holy Week our Altar Guild supports us to walk the Stations of the Cross. Each year we hear this meditation differently. Come and experience the depth of spirituality in hearing the Stations of the Cross!
This dramatic and prayerful service has been done for many years by some of our deeply prayer-filled parishioners. During this time, readings and responses are read. As the candles are extinguished one by one, we experience the depth of darkness that can exist in our world.
On Maundy Thursday we remember the last evening Christ was alive. He gathered His disciples in the Upper Room and began to tell them what was going to happen. This year we will feel the heartfelt love Christ has for each of us and we for each other as we share in a communal meal together. We’ll also celebrate the Eucharist together as the disciples did on this night many years ago for the first time. This helps each one of us remember where it all began.
As Christ went to the Garden to pray, we carry the Sacrament to the Altar of Repose. The church will be stripped of all items that can be removed. This leaves a bare altar for us to meditate on Christ’s death and the loss experienced on that day.
People are invited to gather at the Altar of Repose following the service. If you are unable to attend the service you can come and go as time allows until midnight.
The Compline Prayer Service lasts approximately 15-20 minutes. There will be time to meditate between services and after.
What better way to respect others than to give them time to kneel at the foot of the cross. To give them time to pray and to think of their stories and to take time to recognize the change in their lives.
The morning service is led by the Youth of our Parish. It is an inspirational reflection on the day with an opportunity to pray at the foot of the cross.
In the afternoon, come to the foot of the cross and be prepared to experience the depth of the Passion!
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
